Janet Dawson has been writing for over 15 years, and is the author of 3 books. For 3 -4 years she ran a successful BlogTalk Radio show entitled "A Day in the Life of a Poet", which centered around poetry, writing, and the different ways we are inspired. She then started hosting a show entitled "Janet Dawson Presents" under WDEP, which aired twice weekly, as well as hosting "One Voice One Mic", which aired two weeknights and a Sunday afternoon show, on her own station. Both shows featured poetry, spoken word, and music by indie artists. She has had the pleasure of interviewing and working with rapper Kurtis Blow, David Reed (the director of the Boys and Girls Club in Atlanta), jazz keyboardist Oli Silk, Eyrk Moore, Hunnie, Mannie the Poet, and Renard Yearby aka Bad Boy #2. She also co-hosted with Clay Phillips on Pounds of Sound, and Norman Verikal on Verikal Bistro.

One Voice One Mic later became a group used to help others promote their music and or poetry. Poet Tiana Clayton, Sandi Mynite Angel, and Rapper/ Poet I.K.P. started traveling holding different open mics in different cities once a year to help raise money or awareness. The first one was in Titusville, and the second was in Texas. For about a year, she wrote for the The Digital Conglomerate Magazine highlighting and interviewing poets every other month.

Andrionna L. Williams is no stranger to writing. She began writing at the age of 10 years old with her first literary piece entitled “I Am Somebody”.  When fans of BET’s “The Game” heard that its two lead actors weren’t returning for the show’s sixth season, many wondered who could possibly replace them. Now it looks like producers for the program have found an answer in actress Lauren London. The model and ATL star will reportedly help fill the void left behind by Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall. As previously reported, Mowry and Hall announced in May that contractual issues kept them from coming back. “I had a great time on the show,” said Mowry who’s been adamant that their departure was amicable.

According to TV Line, London will play Kiera, a former child star who stars in a “Cosby Show”-esque sitcom. And while details are skimpy, the show will also introduce the character Bryce “The Blueprint,” an Ivy League grad turned No. 1 draft pick and Kiera’s current boyfriend. “The Blueprint” will take the place of Derwin as a lead. Before snagging her role on “The Game,” London appeared on “90210,” and in the films Madea’s Big Happy Family and I Love You, Beth Cooper.

With one role secured for the sixth season, who do you think could join London and replace Derwin?

If Roger Garrison’s intentions were to lose the re-election, he certainly may have succeeded.

Currently, Garrison is the Cherokee County Sheriff in Georgia and is running against David Waters this year.  Unfortunately, he ended up with his face plastered all over Georgia after a picture was sent in of Garrison dressed as a Ku Klux Klan member.

This shocking revelation sent waves of outrage throughout the area, calling into question just who was running their state.  Garrison jumped at the picture once it was announced and stated that he’s never had any affiliation with the KKK.  In fact, the picture was a photograph of him dressed up for a Halloween party and nothing more.  Still, many questioned Garrison as to why he would even dress up as such a thing, even for Halloween.  Garrison stated he was inspired to wear the costume after watching a scene in the movie Blazing Saddles, and wasn’t thinking about what the repercussions could be at that time.

“I don’t deny it wasn’t stupid, looking back now, but there again I say, what 21 or 22-year-old in this world hasn’t made some stupid mistakes?” Garrison informed WSB-TV.

Even Waters, his opponent, is sticking by Garrison on this one, although he’s not getting too involved in Garrison’s crisis.

“It is a bad judgment call, and [that] type of clothing represents hate. And I certainly don’t want any part of that,” he said to WSB-TV adding that he preferred to stick with his own campaign at this point.

WSB-TV has confirmed they were able to reach at least one person who recalled Garrison at the Halloween party in the KKK costume.

***** I'm sorry, but what person in their right mind would wear a Klan outfit, Halloween or not, knowing that you run the risk of being photographed? Just the fact that he wore such a costume says a lot about his character. That is not a costume you wear even in jest. Also, since this man is running for public office, it never dawned on him that this could come back to bite him in the butt one day? I guess there's no accounting for common sense...

Hair Loss

Some amount of hair loss is normal — strands fall out over time and get replaced by new ones. However, when you’re under physical or emotional stress, the normal shedding of 100 or so hairs a day can speed up to the point where half to three-quarters of your hair can fall out. Known as telogen effluvium, this diffuse and often stress-induced hair loss may not happen right away. In fact, it may take weeks or months after the stressful event for the hair to actually shed. Police chief fired over Trayvon Martin shooting

SANFORD, Fla. –  Saying he's lost the trust of officials, a city manager fired a central Florida police chief who was criticized for his agency's initial investigation of Trayvon Martin's shooting death at the hands of a neighborhood watch volunteer.

Sanford City Manager Norton Bonaparte said in a Wednesday statement that he relieved Chief Bill Lee of duty because he "determined the Police Chief needs to have the trust and respect of the elected officials and the confidence of the entire community."

"We need to move forward with a police chief that all the citizens of Sanford can support," Bonaparte said. "I have come to this decision in light of the escalating divisiveness that has taken hold of the city."

The initial lack of an arrest following the death of Martin, an unarmed black teenager, by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in February led to protests across the nation and spurred a debate about race and the laws of self-defense. Zimmerman's father is white and his mother is from Peru.

If you remember Moesha like I do, you'll remember Yvette Wilson, the sassy beautiful, funny and later best friend to Monique's character on the Parkers (a spin off of Moesha).

Sadly via Twitter from former co-star Shar Jackson, we learned that Yvette Wilson just loss her battle with cancer.

US weekly reports:

Yvette Wilson died Thursday after battling cervical cancer. She was 48.

The actress was best known for her role on the UPN sitcom Moesha as Andell Wilkerson. She starred in five seasons and its spinoff, The Parkers.

According to TMZ, Wilson had Stage 4 cancer at the time of her death.

A website was created in Wilson's name to help raise money for her medical costs. "Yvette has experienced kidney failure, kidney transplants and cervical cancer, among other things," the site states. "Her cancer has come back after an extended retreat, and doctors are saying it's very aggressive this time out."

Moesha costar Shar Jackson tweeted Thursday, "F--k cancer... Oh god. My heart is so unbelievably broken."

Jackson added, "I want to thank all my tweeties for their prayers but god has chosen to take my sister Yvette home."

Egyptian-Sudanese-American novelist KOLA BOOF responds to Djimon Hounsou, Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Simmons and the general public regarding her long standing sexual indiscretions with Mr. Hounsou.

WHAT HAPPENED KOLA?:

For four years (starting 3 weeks after Kimora Lee Simmons 'faux' West African wedding to actor Djimon Hounsou in the country of Benin)....I took part in an adulterous affair with Ms. Simmons' man.  I can honestly say that I slept with her husband more than she did the last four years.

It should also be noted that I had a sexual relationship with Mr. Hounsou many, many years prior to the 'marriage', before he even knew Ms. Simmons.

First of all....after Djimon left Kimora....I made it clear that I would never sleep with him again. Just as you saw published in my interview with the NY DAILY NEWS...I informed him that the only reason I had sex with him was to get revenge on Kimora.  With their breakup, I didn't (and don't) want it anymore.

And let me make this perfectly clear---I would never sleep with any other woman's husband just for recreation. Only Kimora's. I myself was married for 10 years to an absolutely wonderful man, a Black Man who treated me (and still treats me and our sons) like royalty.  So I identify with the wife's role just as strongly as Kimora knows the golddigging homewrecker role--don't forget she's wrecked many homes in her day. 

This affair with Djimon was about revenge for me, Kola.  I liked picturing her face (she looks like that winking snail at Benihana Restaurant) just as Djimon made me climax.  It filled me with such cheer and joy to know that every time she kissed her husband--she would be kissing my privates.  And for four years that's exactly what Kimora kissed, my privates. But then again, being that Kimora is strongly bisexual...I'm sure that tid-bit isn't phasing her. 

Why did I want revenge on Kimora? That is coming up in this statement later. But for now, just be aware that I have NO REMORSE...none whatsoever...and that it was my intention to see Kimora's marriage fail.

Naked Black Justice. The name says it all and iconic photographer James C. Lewis of Noire3000 | N3K Photo Studios has taken up the effort to spotlight the racial injustices that plague the black community. I’ve often said that not everyone can use the same platform or has to use the same platform to get a message out. You have to use what you got and James has done just that. Through the lens of his camera and with the use of models, all Black, he has brought to the spotlight many of the negative stereotypes and prejudiced biases that most people think of when dealing with the Black community.

We have to say this is a good look.  Meet Tia Norfleet, the first youngest and only African American female NASCAR driver in history.  Daughter to legend NASCAR driver Bobby Norfleet, Ms. Norfleet intends to follow in her father's footsteps but needs support.

In 2004, the 24-year-old became the first, youngest, and only African American female driver on the NASCAR circuit, but her fight didn’t stop there. Just because Tia received a NASCAR racing license doesn’t mean her fellow drivers welcomed her into the industry with open arms, and in light of the fact that NASCAR has been faced with multiple lawsuits from minorities alleging racial discrimination, Tia has launched a grassroots effort to make sure nothing stops her from racing.

Edward Williams, founder of the marketing company, Team Tia, said it’s not other cars on the track that are Tia’s main competition so much as it is the NASCAR industry as a whole. he noted the million dollar question on everyone’s mind is will NASCAR actually accept the black female racer.

“Our goal is to raise funds needed for everyone to find out,” he told the Milwaukee Community Journal.

Racing isn’t a cheap profession and with the online fundraising organization, Tiapower.com, Tia and her team hope she’ll be able to raise the financial support she needs to breakdown these necessary barriers.

“If President Obama can raise $700 million, surely we can raise $5 million to get Tia on the track,” Williams added. “We have a good team and I think with the public’s help we can get Tia on the track and testing in two weeks.”

Do we have a secret spy in the mist? or a kid that has borrowed from pop culture to develop an identity about being lost in the forest? We'll see.

According to Associate Press we may have either an elaborate story of survival or we have the male Hanna coming into light.

Berlin police on Wednesday released photos an English-speaking teenage boy who wandered into the city nine months ago saying he had been living for the last five years in the forest with his father.

Police spokesman Thomas Neuendorf said all attempts to identify the boy since he emerged in the German capital on Sept. 5 have been unsuccessful, and they are now hoping the release of his photo may produce some leads.

"We have checked his DNA against all missing person reports, sent the data to Interpol so that they could check it internationally, but unfortunately without any success," Neuendorf said.

The boy has told authorities his father called him "Ray" and that he was born June 20, 1994, but claims not to know his last name or where he's from.

He said his mother, Doreen, died in a car accident when he was 12 and after that he and his father, Ryan, took to the forest. He said they wandered using maps and a compass, staying in tents or caves overnight.

He told authorities that after his father died in August, 2011, he buried him in the forest and then walked five days north before ending up in Berlin, and showed up at city hall.

Investigators have been unable to confirm any details about a fatal car accident that matches up with Ray's story, however, and haven't been able to find the body of the father — raising "serious doubts" about the story.

Kola Boof: I Broke Up Kimora Lee Simmons And Djimon Hounsou

After recent reports of Kimora and Djimon’s separation were shot down by Russell Simmons, Kola Boof  steps forward and claims they are really over and she is the reason why.

It has been an interesting and very scandalous few days for Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou’s relationship. After reports of a split surfaced in the NY Daily News by an anonymous source, it got even weirder when the only one to speak out against the allegations was Kimora’s ex husband, Hip Hop enthusiast Russell Simmons. While the insider informed the publication that the couple’s split was due to financial problems, it still seemed odd that Kimora took to her Twitter account to only dispel rumors of money issues, while saying absolutely nothing about the status of her relationship.

Although the speculations seemed to be quieted thanks to a blogpost written on behalf of the couple by Russell Simmons, a recent interview with Kola Boof has reignited the controversy and left Kimora and Djimon’s relationship status even more questionable.

Kola Boof, award winning author and former sex slave to Bin Laden, revealed to the NY Daily News that she did infact break the couple up after she and Djimon had an affair:

“I am the reason that they broke up. I am not in love with Djimon Hounsou & he is not in love with me. The only reason I had sex with him was to get revenge on Kimora. Kimora nearly destroyed my life and my children’s lives. She is a lecherous, two-faced, money-obsessed witch and a delusional snob. Now that they are ‘separated’ (and trying to hide that fact), I have no interest in sleeping with him further.”

While Boof refused to elaborate on just what exactly Kimora did to warrant the payback, she did allude that the situation occurred while she was being treated for brain cancer.

Kola continues to tweet both Kimora and Djimon with no response. But by the looks of her Twitter timeline, it is clear that the situation between the three has been going on for quite some time. There is even reports that there is a video of both Boof and Hounsou spotted together in a hotel.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - Georgia police arrested Reverend Creflo Dollar, the well-known pastor of an Atlanta megachurch, for physically assaulting his teenage daughter, CBS Atlanta reports.

Fayette County deputies took the 50-year-old pastor into custody from his home on Thursday night for allegedly "intentionally caused physical harm to his teenage daughter by grabbing her around the neck and choking her," according to FOX 5 News. 

An arrest warrant stated that the assault caused a scratch on the right side of the 15-year-old's throat. The report alleged Dollar then threw her to the ground, punched her and hit her with his shoe, CBS Atlanta reports.

The pastor told police his daughter "became very disrespectful" after he told her she couldn't go to the party, according to the report. He admitted to spanking his daughter and wrestling her to the floor but said it was because she hit him.

Dollar is the founder and leader of the non-denominational World Changers Church International based in Fulton County, Ga. The megachurch reporteldy generates tens of millions of dollars each year, FOX 5 News reports.

He was reportedly released on a $5,000 bond on Friday.

***** This is the 2nd preacher in as many years to be accused of assaulting a family member, with the first being Bishop Thomas Weeks who assaulted then-wife Prophetess Juanita Bynum (I say 2nd because the allegations against BeBe Winans were later proven to be false).

While we haven't gotten all the facts of this case yet and he is human, one would think Dollar would have better thought out his actions since he is constantly in the public eye. Guess his anger got ahead of his common sense...

According to AP, 

Federal prosecutors have charged five-time Grammy winner Lauryn Hill with willfully failing to file income tax returns with the IRS.

Authorities say Hill earned more than $1.6 million during the three years that she failed to file returns. Prosecutors say her primary source of income is royalties from the recording and film industries.

The 37-year-old South Orange, N.J., resident is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate on June 29.

Hill got her start with The Fugees and began her solo career in 1998 with the critically acclaimed album, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill."

Dang, can our artists get a break? Hope everything works out to her favor.<

Congratulations to Dr. Aretha Franklin yet again.  The legend was honored by Princeton with a honorary Doctorate of Music from the prestigious University.  This will be a second honorary doctorate earned by the world-known Queen of Soul.

In 2007, she also received an honorary doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

Famed science fiction author Ray Bradbury dead at 91

Ray Bradbury, the science fiction-fantasy master who transformed his childhood dreams and Cold War fears into telepathic Martians, lovesick sea monsters, and, in uncanny detail, the high-tech, book-burning future of "Fahrenheit 451," has died. He was 91.

He died Tuesday night, his daughter said Wednesday. Alexandra Bradbury did not have additional details.

Although slowed in recent years by a stroke that meant he had to use a wheelchair, Bradbury remained active into his 90s, turning out new novels, plays, screenplays and a volume of poetry. He wrote every day in the basement office of his Cheviot Hills home and appeared from time to time at bookstores, public library fundraisers and other literary events around Los Angeles.

His writings ranged from horror and mystery to humor and sympathetic stories about the Irish, blacks and Mexican-Americans. Bradbury also scripted John Huston's 1956 film version of "Moby Dick" and wrote for "The Twilight Zone" and other television programs, including "The Ray Bradbury Theater," for which he adapted dozens of his works.

"What I have always been is a hybrid author," Bradbury said in 2009. "I am completely in love with movies, and I am completely in love with theater, and I am completely in love with libraries."

Bradbury broke through in 1950 with "The Martian Chronicles," a series of intertwined stories that satirized capitalism, racism and superpower tensions as it portrayed Earth colonizers destroying an idyllic Martian civilization.

Donations to the legal defense fund of George Zimmerman have surged since the accused killer of Miami teenager Trayvon Martin has been ordered back to jail, his lawyer told ABC News today.

Attorney Mark O’Mara said Zimmerman’s online defense fund has been receiving about $1,000 a day in donations, but the pace picked up after a judge required Zimmerman to return to jail.

Zimmerman, 28, woke up today in a 9-foot by 7-foot isolation cell in the Seminole County jail today after surrendering Sunday. He was in shackles and wearing a bullet-proof vest after being taken into custody Sunday.

A judge ordered Zimmerman back into custody Friday after prosecutors presented jailhouse tapes of Zimmerman talking to his wife Shelly and allegedly discussing how much money was in his online defense fund. His wife told the court that they had no money to post for bail.

O’Mara said that he will seek a new bond hearing and that the couple intends to apologize to the judge.

“It’s not, again, like they were trying to hide the money or leave with the money. They just had it … and felt like they needed to secure themselves,” the lawyer said.

A little-known life-threatening illness caused by blood sucking insects has been labeled the “New AIDS of the Americas” by leading health experts.

JOPPATOWNE, Md. (AP) — The college student suspected of killing and eating parts of a man staying at his home ranted months ago about "mass human sacrifices" on Facebook, one of several details that emerged Friday in the second gruesome case of alleged cannibalism in the U.S. in a week.

Authorities say Alex Kinyua, 21, admitted using a knife to kill and carve up Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, 37, before eating his heart and parts of his brain. The older man had been staying with the Kinyua family for about six weeks at their townhouse in the Baltimore suburb of Joppatowne.

The remains have been positively identified as Agyei-Kodie's and a relative in the United States has been notified, according to sheriff's office spokeswoman Monica Worrell. No other charges have been filed against anyone else, she said.

Both the victim and his alleged killer had attended nearby Morgan State University, a historically black university in Baltimore. Kinyua had just finished his junior year, and Agyei-Kodie was a graduate student who last attended classes in 2008. Both men were also originally from Africa; Kinyua, a U.S. citizen, moved from Kenya as a child and Agyei-Kodie was from Ghana.

Investigators haven't given a possible motive in the slaying. In a separate case on May 19, police said Kinyua beat a man with a baseball bat on Morgan State's campus, fracturing his skull and making him lose sight in one eye. Kinyua was free on $220,000 bail in that case. He is now being held without bond on a murder charge.

Woman still breast feeds son, 6, says it's 'perfectly natural' and has no deadline for stopping

Amanda Hurst breast-feeding her infant son, but watching her do the same for her 6-year-old is a different story.

Hurst, 29, of Hemingfield, England, currently breast feeds both her sons, 5-month-old William and 6-year-old Jonathan, she revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail.

She tried to wean Jonathan off the habit at age 3, she says, but failed.

"I explained to him, 'This is the last time you can breastfeed," she told the paper. "He was like 'yeah, alright Mum,' and went to bed. When he came to feed in the night, I said, 'You're 3 now, you don't breastfeed, you're a big boy."

But Hurst reveals she herself didn't want to stop, and it was her husband who convinced her to continue.

The practice was sporadic for a few years and Hurst thought Jonathan was growing out of it -- until she had her second baby.

At that point, Jonathan began to demand breast milk more often to keep up with his infant brother.

"If you'd not had cake for three years and someone put a slice in front of you, you might want to have a bit," she said.

Hurst complied, not knowing how long her son would want to keep going.

"At first I thought I would only do it for four months then it was six months. He started walking at nine months and then he was a year, but he was still enjoying it, and I was too, so I just carried on," she said. "I didn't set myself any deadlines for stopping...It seemed normal, nobody said anything to me, I'm not sure whether people even noticed. It wasn't until he was 3 that I thought 'maybe this is a bit weird.'"

Hurst acknowledges that some may find her decision bizarre.

"I know some people think it's strange," Hurst told the Daily Mail. "But I think it's perfectly natural...There are people who find it hard to understand, including my mum and dad, but they respect me for standing up and being counted."

While the Mayo Clinic recommends that mothers breast-feed until their infants are 1-year-old, the American Academy of Pediatrics advises there is likely no risk to continuing past that recommendation.

"There is no upper limit to the duration of breastfeeding and no evidence of psychologic or developmental harm from breastfeeding into the third year of life or longer," the AAP states on its website.

That's good news for Hurst, who has no idea when she'll be able to stop.

"My opinion is that you should carry on until the child doesn't want it anymore, within reason," she told the Daily Mail.

"I would like him to grow out of it," she added, telling the paper that Jonathan is asking for breast milk "less and less" these days and even has his own age-appropriate 7-year-old girlfriend.

But she does admit she may have cut it off earlier if she had known it would go this far. "If I thought he would still be breastfeeding now I probably wouldn't even have started."

Four thugs nabbed in eight-year rape saga of Brooklyn woman

A Brooklyn girl was robbed of her teenage years by a gang of creeps who repeatedly raped her, beat her and pimped her out, prosecutors said Wednesday.

But the brave teen - who was brutalized for eight years starting at 13 - still managed to finish school, enroll in college and gather the strength to report the horrific abuse.

"It's hard to imagine something more terrible than this," said her college professor, a former prosecutor and the first person the victim confided with.

The Orthodox Jewish girl from Crown Heights was first raped in a park by Damien Crooks, 31, and Jamali Brockett, 27, in 2003, according to court records. Jawara Brockett, 33, joined them in raping the teen in 2007, and Darrell Dula, 24, did the same in 2010 after she refused to help Crooks recruit other girls for prostitution, prosecutors said.

All four have been arrested and were charged Wednesday.

Until recently, the suspects continually threatened to harm her family if she reported them. When she was forced to have sex with strangers, they kept all the money.

Crooks "even sold her on the street for $20 to a passerby," said Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes.

She decided to come forward after Crooks told her he'll do the same things to her younger sister, prosecutors said.

Despite this horrid ordeal, the victim managed to pull through and seek a degree in criminal justice.

"She did a great job segregating whatever happened in her life," said the college professor. "She's incredibly smart."

Crooks, who has 37 prior arrests and six convictions, was ordered held on a $1 million bail by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Joseph McKay.

"The recitation of what he's charged with is frightening. Very very frightening," the judge said.

A brain surgery patient who wandered out of a Texas hospital was found Thursday after disappearing for nearly 15 hours, authorities said.

Jose Manuel Calleros-Avilla, 31, was wearing a special helmet covering an exposed area of his skull when he walked out of the Parkland Hospital in Dallas around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday night.

The hospital sent out a tweet around 11:45 a.m. Thursday, saying Calleros-Avila "has just been found" and thanking all who helped in the search.

Doctors had said Calleros-Avilla speaks only Spanish and may have become confused.

He had been recovering from surgery following a May 16 domestic dispute in which his girlfriend drove up onto a sidewalk and ran him down with her car, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

Toyrianna Smith, 20, is accused of strapping her baby's corpse into a sling and taking him shopping after killing the three-month old in a drunken rage.

A Chicago-area mother suffocated her 3-month-old baby to death and then strapped him into a BabyBjorn carrier and went shopping, prosecutors said.

Toyrianna Smith, 20, was drinking vodka with friends at a home in Harvey, Ill., south of Chicago, last Wednesday when she beat and suffocated Ken Blackman Jr. because he wouldn't stop crying, prosecutors said in a bond hearing on Monday.

Smith had allegedly crashed in a guest room at the friend's house with the baby by her side when his crying woke her up, authorities said.

She told cops that she put a blanket over his head, hit him in the face and then smothered him until he stopped flailing and went quiet, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

On Thursday morning, when Blackman's father arrived to pick the boy up, Smith put the tot's lifeless body in a BabyBjorn and slipped out to go shopping for several hours, prosecutors said.

She then went to a neighbor's house to hang out. The neighbor called 911 after spotting blood on his blanket and noticing that the boy wasn't breathing.

Blackman was taken to Memorial Hospital in Harvey, where he was pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m. An autopsy report showed he died from suffocation and had been dead for 14 hours.

Smith admitted to killing the boy and used a toy doll to demonstrate for cops how she hit and smothered him, the Sun-Times reported.

She was charged with first-degree murder and ordered held on $1 million bond.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers hospitalized after alleged suicide attempt in London

Jonathan Rhys Meyers' personal struggles reportedly landed him in the hospital earlier this week following an alleged suicide attempt.

According to The Sun, the 33-year-old actor was taken by ambulance from his London home on Tuesday after allegedly taking an unknown number of pills.

The British paper said Meyers, who was found on the floor of his home, refused medical treatment from paramedics for at least 30 minutes.

"It was the opinion of those present that he tried to take his life," a source said, adding that the situation was "very sad."

A police official confirmed that "officers were called by London Ambulance Service following reports of a man refusing treatment."

"The man was taken to hospital," the official told The Sun.

Meyers was discharged on Wednesday. Following his release, he reportedly appeared red-eyed and told the paper he had "no comment" regarding what happened.

Still, a source told the Daily News late Thursday that "it was not a suicide attempt."

"He did relapse and was hospitalized briefly for that," the insider said, "but was released."

The Ireland native, best known for starring on the Showtime series "The Tudors," has been plagued by alcohol and emotional issues for several years.

He was most recently said to have checked into a South Africa rehab center – his reported fifth stint – in early June.

In 2007, Meyers relapsed after the sudden death of his mother, and has been on and off the wagon ever since.

Glenn Beck’s future, and Fox News Channel’s without him

It was supposed to be a quaint summer evening outdoors with the family. Green grass. Golden sunset. Picnic baskets. Old Hitchcock movie under the stars.

But to hear Glenn Beck tell it, the scene at Manhattan's Bryant Park Monday evening was more like a lynching. No sooner had the talk show host sat down with his wife, daughter and her boyfriend on a red-white-and-blue blanket than an angry mob of Republican-hating New Yorkers, according to Beck, began showering them with aspersions and vitriol. There was laughter, dirty looks, finger pointing, photo-taking, texting--even some spilled wine from an unruly bunch of 20-somethings sitting behind them. (One member of the group disputed Beck's account.)

"I get it. I'm Glenn Beck. It's New York City. I'm used to getting comments. It comes with the territory," said Beck, recalling the incident Tuesday in one of his trademark teary tirades on Fox News. "But not the territory for my children, for my wife. You would think that there would be some common decency, especially among the culturally superior in New York."

The charged culture-war encounter was fitting fodder for the last days of Beck's Fox News career, which draws to a close Thursday. After the the final credits roll on the Fox franchise Beck has anchored since January 2009, the conservative commentator will officially be able to create some distance between himself and the political, cultural and media cognoscenti of the city where he's lived and worked as an outsider for the past five-and-a-half years.

Beck, who sold his fortified Connecticut mansion in April, will soon be moving out of the New York City area. (Even though he plans to hold on to his swank apartment in Manhattan.)

He won't be wasting any time launching into his new venture, either--a subscription-based Internet network where his high-octane brand of conservative talk will take the form of a daily web show under the banner of his production company, Mercury Radio Arts. He makes the transition as fellow TV news personalities, such as Katie Couric, Keith Olbermann and Anderson Cooper, also find their personal brands outgrowing the networks that honed them.

"I will walk over from the Fox studio after my last broadcast, close the door, and go over to the first GBTV broadcast," Beck says in a promo for the new show. "I'm not gonna do my post-Fox interview with some reporter."

Indeed, Beck declined to be interviewed for this article. But judging by a comment he offered The Cutline through a spokesman, he seems more than happy to be turning his back on the News Corp.-owned network that helped transform him into an icon for tea party conservatives the nation over.

"GBTV is the future and I couldn't be more excited to get started," said Beck. "It seems like everything we have been doing at Mercury for the past few years has been leading to the launch of GBTV. As I keep telling my staff, GBTV is a verb--we don't want couch potatoes, we want active engagement from our viewers and will provide them with shows that encourage just that."

Fox News, likewise, is happy to be rid of him. As much as Beck was eager to try something new and entrepreneurial, Fox News brass had grown increasingly uncomfortable with his outsize personality and frequently incendiary remarks, such as the controversy that erupted over Beck's claim that Obama is a racist who hates "white culture."

Beck's relationship with Fox seemed to fray with each successive rant as his views became increasingly dark and apocalyptic. His warning that the revolution in Egypt could become "contagious," "sweep the Middle East" then "begin to destabilize Europe and the rest of the world," for instance, even irked some prominent conservatives. Dozens of his advertisers have pulled out since 2009.

Beck's ratings, meanwhile, while they drastically improved Fox News Channel's 5 p.m. hour, began to slip last summer, and have continued to slide as "hard" news, such as the Arab Spring, dominated the news cycle. Through June, "Glenn Beck" has averaged 1,855,000 total viewers, down 23 percent year-over-year, according to Nielsen estimates, and 438,000 among the coveted 25-to-54-year-old demographic, down 32 percent. (Beck's demographic in the pre-prime time 5 p.m. slot was still good enough for third among all cable news shows, behind top-rated Fox News compatriots Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, and fourth overall.)

The ratings, of course, will be a moot point as of Friday, when Fox will air a John Stossel special entitled, "What's Great About America," in place of Beck. The network will run encore presentations of "Glenn Beck" next week.

After that? "We will announce our plans shortly," a Fox News spokeswoman told The Cutline. (Fox executives have said they'd be thrilled if whoever takes over draws an audience even close to Beck's since that would mean they would have an easier time selling the slot.)

As for the new GBTV show, it doesn't launch until Sept. 12. But Thursday's post-finale production is being billed as its maiden broadcast. It will be a "live question and answer session" starting at 6:30 with GBTV's inaugural correspondent, Raj Nair, Beck says in the promo. Other pre-launch features are scheduled for the summer as well, including a chat between conservative writer S.E. Cupp and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

Eventually, Beck wants to build GBTV--access to which will cost subscribers $10 a month--into a wide-ranging online television network.

"If you're a fan of Jon Stewart, you're going to find something on GBTV that you're going to enjoy," he told the New York Times earlier this month. "If you're a fan of '24,' you're going to find something on GBTV that you're going to enjoy."

In the meantime, Beck has plenty of other projects to keep busy with, including a new e-commerce website, a rally in Israel sometime this August (which GBTV will carry live), and his news and opinion website, The Blaze. Nor will his financials take a major hit from the break-up with Fox. His nearly $3 million salary at the network made up only a sliver of the $40 million he took in off of book sales, speaking appearances and his Mercury Radio assets between May 2010 and May 2011.

As for his pending move, Beck's rep was mum on how soon he'd be shipping out or where he'd be landing. But the latest signs point to Westlake, Texas, where Beck has reportedly leased a $4 million home from a Swarovski crystal heiress and a major league baseball player. Mercury Radio will remain headquartered in New York and Beck will launch the show there.

He might think twice before going to another public movie night, though.

Back in Bryant Park, as the Hitchcock film ("The 39 Steps") was ending, Beck and his wife got up and started to walk away from the assembled masses. Their departure was met with jeers and applause from the crowd.

"I wanted to point out that that's what people do at the end of a movie," he said. "But maybe that's just me."

Martwane Mackey, 18 is currently charged with first degree murder in that attack and beating of his girlfriend's three year old daughter.

According to Sandra Rose,

"Mackey, is also charged with beating Ty’Shea Austin’s 1-year-old sister, Zariah, but the toddler survived. Mackey’s girlfriend, Qnique Thues, was at work at the time. The couple lived together.

Mackey waited hours before calling 911 from a pay phone on Sunday. When police arrived, they found Mackey holding a limp Ty’Shea in his arms.

Mackey admitted to biting and slapping Ty’Shea to revive her after she had a “choking and respiratory incident” at home. He denied killing her.

Officers saw bruises and bite marks on Ty’Shea’s head and body, and police say little Zariah had similar injuries. She was hospitalized and is in stable condition."

I pray that this lousy S.O.B is roomed with a nice inmate who shows him what abuse is really about!

This has got to be the most senseless act of violence ever! According to Yahoo Sports,

Muller, his family and his girlfriend were leaving the Truman High School graduation on Tuesday when his father noticed a bottle of cologne -- a graduation gift for his son -- that had been left in their car during the ceremony at Lehman College was missing.

The elder Muller stopped the car and began arguing with the parking attendants about the missing cologne. After seeing his father argue with the attendants, Isayah Muller got out of the car and joined the fray, eventually receiving stab wounds from both of the two parking attendants involved in the altercation. One wound struck him in the side while another was delivered to his chest.

The teenager was quickly transferred to nearby Saint Barnabas Hospital and died hours later. His father and both attendants reportedly involved in the fight have already been taken to the New York Police Department's 52nd Precinct, though it is unknown whether any charges have been -- or will be -- levied against any of the involved parties.

Ending someone's life in a parking lot over something so minor as a bottle of cologne is beyond idiotic and beyond reason. A life was lost over stupid and it is saddening that more and more cases of this is occurring.  Are our young men being purposely targeted due to their talent? Was the person who stabbed both father and son, that hurt over being yelled at that he felt the only way to redeem his pride was to kill?

I pray for this family and I pray for stupid acts like this to stop.

Police fire tear gas at a group of stone throwing protesting youths, which results in a revolt that injures 1,000.  According to Yahoo News:

"The latest clashes began after families of people killed in the uprising that ousted Mubarak held an event in a Cairo suburb late on Tuesday in their honor.

Other bereaved relatives arrived to complain that names of their own dead were not mentioned at the ceremony. Fighting broke and moved toward the capital's central Tahrir Square and the Interior Ministry, according to officials.

The Health Ministry said 1,036 people were injured, among them at least 40 policemen."

Anguish in Egypt seems to still have left it's mark on the country.  It is saddening that the voice of the people are being lost in bitter politics and unjust relations. After Egyptian police have recently admitted to Virgin checks on Egyptian women who were caught during the revolts and not the police behaving as a militia and harming many citizens, many people in Egypt still feel they have no support.

How can we help those in Egypt while giving them the right to protect their own rights?

I'm beyond tired of it. What happened to civil debate? What happened to being respectful with your disagreements with the POTUS? We so forget that the juice behind the POTUS is the Senate. The ones EVERYONE should really have issues with, yet we pick out the POTUS who is trying to give us what we want in diplomatic means.  The man is not perfect, but I've noticed that when discussing our POTUS all respect goes out the door. We speak about him, as if we know him, and his family, we drop his title, we do not say Mr. President, WTH! With Bush, though I really didn't care for him, he still was giving the respect of his title.

According to the Washington Post blog, Halperin, a political analyst on MSNBC, called Obama “a dick” during Thursday morning’s live broadcast of “Morning Joe.”

Halperin asked if there was a 7-second delay on because he wanted to comment on “how the president behaved” during a press conference that Obama held on Wednesday. Halperin then said, “I thought he was kind of a dick yesterday.”

Halperin immediately apologized for his “joke” when he was told there was no 7-second delay — but his apology was neither honest nor sincere. Remember, Haperin asked if there was a 7-second delay on, so he knew what he was going to say before he said it.

I'm beyond tired of it all! Newsflash, our POTUS can only do so much for us before the mangy Senate blocks everything he tries to do or manipulate everything he tries to do.  Yes, there are some views of our POTUS that don't mesh with everyone, (such as his decision to go to Libya) but guess what, I chose as an American to respect our POTUS and not try at every cost to verbally bash and disrespect him and his family.  Our own First Lady is also not given her respect and many do not greet her title first as well, everyone is upset because she decides to wear a Target dress or she combs her hair to the back one day or because she opened the blinds in White House COME ON!

I'm over it. All you disrespectful ingrates can get a life and....I'll leave it right there. Thank you America for giving me the right to practice my 1st amendment, but you other so and so's....yeah...I'll stop right there.

Hey SS fam,

True Blood is BACK and I could not be happier. I get to spend the summer with my favorites: Lafayette, Tara (even with that damn quivering bottom lip of hers...LAWD), Sookie, Bill and yes, sexy ass Eric Northman! Woot! I would've crawled through broken glass to see the season opener which aired this past Sunday, June 26th, on HBO. Because I no longer have premium channels I almost didn't to get to see it! But because I have the best online friends in the world, I got the hook up and watched it along with millions of other fans!

Now, I admit, I have NOT read the Sookie Stackhouse books, so all the hoopla over the series vs. the books, I'm not sure about and really don't care. But I'll have to say, Sunday's episode was not only good it was shocking as well.

Nelson Ellis who plays Lafayette Reynolds in the series is one fine ass brother - gay or not (Nelson is not gay however Lafayette is). He's one of those beautiful gay black men that when you see him, you think "Damn, maybe I could change him!" He's deliciously handsome, has a beautiful muscular body, the most kissable looking lips and ass cheeks that you just want to bite on!

Rutina Wesley plays Tara Thornton and is a fine actress. She seems capable of crying convincing on command and she can portray anger like no other actress I've seen before. Her character is also beautiful, physically fit, funny, loyal and to the actress's credit, has NEVER bared her breasts on camera.

But...

While we may feel compelled to give True Blood creator, Alan Ball, his props for hiring seriously professional black actors, let's take a closer look and examine what's really going on here. I've written papers and articles about black images in the media for the past twenty years, so okay, maybe I'm a little obsessed, but bear with me.

Apparently in New Zealand, it's so boring that they must come up with creative ways to entertain their people by creating off the wall drinks.  One drink in particular, Apple Infused Horse Semen shot, has created quite a buzz.

Described as,"like a custard" this drink is being offered on a limited bases in this years "Monteith's Beer & Wild Food Challenge", and has been "submitted to complement the Asian duck, pork and spring rolls".

Would you try it? Semen is suppose to be good for the body. *blinks*

This look makes me smile.  The Riley Brothers a.k.a Camp Riley are made up of  Terrell (27 y/o) and Wayne (31 y/o) whom both work as NASCAR's  producers and directors for the premier motorsports organization, they work on documentaries, commercials, music videos, and television shows.

According to Uptown:

The brothers crossed professional paths when they interned at NFL Films in Mount Laurel, N.J., not far from their hometown of Willingboro, N.J. NFL Films hired Wayne, and Terrell finished his education at the Art Institute of Philadelphia before moving to Los Angeles to work for Fox Films. In 2005, they left their respective jobs to take their positions at NASCAR in Charlotte. Since then, Wayne has won three Emmys.

I have to commend these brothers for doing something that not many of us are invested in.  I do not know that many African Americans who are into NASCAR so the fact that we are there, throughout the organization and doing well, makes me proud.

In April of this year, the Oceanside Police Department in California led an 18-month multi-agency investigation that resulted in the indictment of 38 suspected Crips gang members, their alleged associates and two hotel owners. The indictment asserts that the Oceanside Crips organization was “engaged in a variety of illegal activities, including but not limited to the prostitution of minors and adult females, attempted murder, robbery, and narcotics trafficking.”

After hearing about this case, Thelma Gutierrez and I set out to delve into the world of traditional street gangs moving into the world of prostitution and sex trafficking as part of the CNN Freedom Project’s initiative to End Modern Day Slavery. And what we found was eye-opening.

We headed to the coastal community of Oceanside,California to talk with some law enforcement officials who were part of the investigation. They described the Oceanside Crips gang as a sophisticated "enterprise" that brought formerly warring Crips gang members together in the business of prostitution and sex trafficking. Authorities say the gangs were drawn in by the potentially huge profits from using the Internet to exploit their female victims – some of whom were minors – and from forcing the women to sell themselves online for sex.

According to law enforcement, the Internet has become such a portal for sex trafficking that it’s moving prostitution off the street corners to the underground world of cyberspace. One local police official told us how challenging this type of crime is to enforce when you can’t visually see it. Also, with the budget constraints most cities face, police simply don't have the staffing to dedicate officers to just sit on a computer and monitor the activity on a daily basis.

Thelma talks with BackStory about her experience reporting this story, and takes us on a ride-along with Oceanside Police Sergeant Adam Knowland

When reporting our story, we spent some time with "Jessica”, who is a former prostitute, who had a gang member as her pimp. She told us her "Guerilla" pimp - one who controls his prostitutes by intimidation and physical abuse – raped her when she first came into contact with him and that she was treated like a modern-day slave. "Jessica" revealed how she lived in constant fear for her life and was forced to prostitute herself just to survive. She told us how she was made to post ads selling herself online, and how all it took to book a "date" at a local hotel room was a simple click of a key and a phone call to a prepaid cell phone. It's all done anonymously. The women never even having to leave their hotel rooms to make their average quote of $1,000 to $3,000 dollars a day. But the girls never saw a penny of the "donations" they earned. Instead, they simply worked to be fed, avoid beatings and stay alive.

Luckily, "Jessica" finally escaped with a couple other girls, after convincing one of their "customers" that their lives were in danger. The customer finally agreed to help them. He kept his word to take them to another hotel, but he still got his "payment" in sex before he allowed the girls to call the police. "Jessica" is now free from what she describes as a life of being a sex slave. And with the help of support groups – like the San Diego-based Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition - she is currently rebuilding her life and her relationship with her mother. But “Jessica” says still worries about all the other vulnerable women and girls who remain enslaved by their pimps.<

Turtles Cause Flight Delays At JFK

Don't blame it on the weather. Flight delays at JFK Airport on Wednesday morning were being blamed on turtles wandering onto the runway.

About 150 diamondback terrapins were crawling on Runway 4L about 9:30 a.m., according to the Port Authority.

Many of the affected flights were JetBlue planes.  The airline posted several Tweets about the incident. "Running over turtles is not healthy for them nor is it good for our tires," the airline posted.

A later Tweet from JetBlue joked that the turtles were of the ninja variety.

Port Authority workers and the USDA took about an hour to remove the turtles and that caused flight delays.

A Port Authority spokesman said that turtles from Jamaica Bay were looking for sand to lay eggs. It is a yearly concern at the airport.

In July 2009, a similar incident caused delays of up to 90 minutes at the airport. Dozens of turtles crawled onto the tarmac. The 8-inch long turtles were moved back to the bay in that case.<

Sandra continues to explain that:

"In a post titled Global Grind Copies Content, Patrick O’Keefe detailed how Simmons and Global Grind rose to the top of the blog rankings by scraping content from established blogs (such as mine) as if the content originated on Global Grind.

This strategy helped Global Grind position its brand in the global marketplace which enabled Simmons to secure lucrative sponsorships from large corporations."

Russell has no qualms huh? He's about getting that money and taking it however he can, no matter who is left scraping for a piece of stale bread at the food bank.  What ticks me off in addition to the fact that everything he is doing is a scam per say, the fact that he doesn't feel that he has to pay the very people who put his shady blog on the map is another problem on a pile of crap that is the empire of Russell Simmons.

According to Sandra Rose:

"According to Michelle Brown, who is enrolled in Global Grind’s ad network, she has not been paid for advertising on her blog since January, 2011. According to brown, owner of Straightfromthea.com, she was told by GG’s accountant, Deepa Shah, that another ad network, Adify, is tasked with paying bloggers their Global Grind revenue for advertising."Brown was given the runaround by Shah in a series of confusing email exchanges, in which Ms. Shah explains that Global Grind paid out ad revenue to Adify, and now Adify was responsible for disbursing the money to bloggers in its ad network.....

Brown’s attempts to reach out to Simmons via email and on Twitter.com have failed. Brown told Sandrarose.com that Global Grind’s ad network owes her close to $10,000 in ad revenue."

I think she is beyond owed her money and now we know that like Diddy, we don't ever need to try out to be Russell's assistant.

I came across this topic while working on something else for SS and I figured, why not discuss this. Now we all have our personalities and flavor for the seasons when coming to sex but, how far is too far in delving in the realm of sexual fanta-play?

Okay now, the point of this article is not to cast judgment so I will do my best to refrain from such but for me personally, "WTH!" Yes. We are at a time were black folk get off on reliving "Roots"?  So you get aroused on being Kunta? I'm sorry. Personally, I can not see myself getting pleasure from playing the main role of "Queen" in Alex Haley's movie. I am so sorry.  Being purposely treated as a slave is not my cup of tea.  Even the idea of reversing it is not my cup of tea.  This puts me in the mindset of the Slave Auction that occurred this year in St. Louis, Missouri. People signed up to purposely reenact being human cattle just for the joy of it and quote on quote "education" of it.

To gain a deeper understanding The Grio shared:

Personally I see no benefit in it.  Open a book, flip through pictures, watch old minstrel shows, and Sambo cartoons to get your "taste" of history, then educate others in why this should NEVER be perpetrated again. In relation to this topic, Hollywood is abuzz with Quentin Tarritino's Slave Buddy dark comady, Django Unchained. A movie meant to be a mixture of blaxploitation and Western movies set during slavery.

Django isn’t quite the hero here – not the way you’re probably expecting. For a good 2/3 of the script, he’s pretty much playing second fiddle to Christoph Waltz’s character who is essentially Django’s mentor, and the man responsible for his freedom, later providing him with the necessary skills Django needs to eventually challenge the plantation owner who holds his wife captive…

And it seems to get worse as they continue the detailed description:

…Speaking of its blaxploitation influences… regarding the lead female character in this, named Broomhilda, Django’s slave wife, whom he’s separated from, and seeks. She’s the lead female in the film, but her part is limited to really just physicalities. She has the most screen time of any other woman in the film, which is why I call her the lead female character…I’m sure he could have afforded Broomhilda some complexities, and maybe even made her a heroine in her own right.

There are some 4 or 5 scenes in which the she’s, shall we say, “exposed”… i.e. naked; and they felt gratuitous to me; 2 in which she’s raped by white men. When we first meet her, she’s on the auction block and asked to bare her breasts to potential buyers; later, she’s chased through a hotel, through hallways, and lobbies, etc, by a slave master, completely naked, after being woken up from sleep, with a whip across her naked body; and still later, she’s locked up naked in a steel box as punishment for trying to run away. Yes, I’m sure these are all scenarios that very well likely could have played out at the time; however, Tarantino could have opted to depict her in another light altogether, but instead chose this less flattering, exploitative one.

According to Fox5 news, this has been an on-going problem for D.C. police women and is just now coming into public awareness. A heavily disguised police woman was interviewed and she said that a lot of the Lactation Rooms (which are mandatory according to the union) don't have locks on them and people have walked in on naked women who were using a breast pump. She also said that some of the rooms are filthy dirty and don't have any accommodations in them. She said that she's had to sit on the FLOOR to express her milk because there was no table or chair in them. Police Chief Cathy Lanier (bitch incarnate) defended her policy Monday saying there is not much more that she can do. The Chief said when you are talking about mothers nursing their babies for a year or more its tough to be more accommodating than she's already been.

DC Police Policy Prompts Breastfeeding Officer to Take Leave Without Pay

Union calls it "war against lactating officers"

SINGAPORE - A decision by Australian airline Jetstar to let a passenger off with a warning after he urinated in the aisle during a flight from Auckland to Singapore -- spraying one man and wetting a woman's scarf -- sparked anger Wednesday.

The man, who was a passenger on the flight Monday, made the unsavory bathroom stop about six hours into the 11-hour flight, the New Zealand Herald reported.

A fellow passenger complained the man was allowed to leave the flight in Singapore with only a warning and police were not called to the airport.

Amos Chapple described the incident as "outrageous" and said the way it was handled by the Jetstar crew was "slack."

Jetstar said the individual at the center of the incident was issued an official warning from the plane's captain, had his alcohol confiscated, and was returned to his seat to sleep off the incident.

The airline maintained there was no need for the police to become involved.

Jetstar Airways is an Australian low-cost airline which is a subsidiary of Qantas.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania police say an 89-year-old woman used her cane to dent the car of two people who stole her friend's purse, and authorities were able to track down the getaway car based in part on the cane's imprint.

New Castle police Chief Thomas Sansone says the woman and her 82-year-old friend were accosted outside a pizza shop Sunday. Police say 27-year-old Jerry Brown Jr. grabbed the purse but couldn't peel away before the 89-year-old banged the car's trunk with her cane.

Police found the car, and, based on the description of the robber — and dents matching the cane — arrested Brown and 21-year-old Tatiana Vargas.

The two are jailed in Lawrence County on robbery charges and on warrants for unrelated crimes. Online court records don't list attorneys for them.<

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — The police officer who shot and killed a college football player during a disturbance outside a bar in the New York suburbs says the student got drunk on liquor he bought before going to the bar.

Pleasantville Officer Aaron Hess has filed a lawsuit claiming the liquor store is liable for the injuries he suffered while responding to the disturbance, which gained attention when some witnesses said police overreacted. Amateur video of the chaos after the shooting was seen on national television and online.

“If you sell liquor to an underage person, you are responsible for what that underage person did,” Hess’ attorney, Mitchell Baker, said Monday.

Several calls to the liquor store, Briarcliff Wines & Liquors in Briarcliff Manor, were not answered Monday. No individual is named as a defendant.

Danroy Henry Jr., 20, of Easton, Mass., was killed Oct. 17 as he drove away from a disturbance that spilled out of a bar in Thornwood, N.Y., after the Pace University homecoming game. Autopsy results found Henry’s blood-alcohol level above the legal driving limit, although his family insists he was not drunk.

Hess has said he was hit by the car, thrown onto the hood and had no choice but to fire to stop the driver. He was cleared by a grand jury but the Henry family is suing him.

I would really like someone to tell this man to sit the hell down and shut the f*ck up! How dare he add insult to injury by doing such a thing? He has some damn nerve! In Waterloo, Iowa on the eve of her official presidential campaign announcement, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) told Fox News that she has “the spirit” of John Wayne.

The presidential hopeful — who was born and grew up in Waterloo as a child before moving to Minnesota — said, “Well, what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That’s the kind of spirit that I have, too.”

The Washington Times points out one slight problem with the Tea Party favorite’s remarks: The John Wayne with roots in Waterloo is John Wayne Gacy, a serial killer who was executed by lethal injection in 1994 after being convicted of 33 murders.

John Wayne — the late movie star, director and producer — was born in Winterset, Iowa, but appears to have no specific connection to Waterloo.

Bachmann’s reference to Wayne in the Hawkeye State does not appear to be an isolated incident. In the latest edition of Newsmax magazine, the conservative congresswoman says in an exclusive interview, “We’re seeing the nation move into decline. I’m not willing to do that. I’m not satisfied. I grew up with John Wayne’s America. I was proud that you grew up in John Wayne’s America: Proud to be an American, thrilled to be a patriot.”

Now I don't know about you guys, but ah.....I wouldn't say this is the woman I would even consider running this country! Not to mention she's a glorified racist among other things! Ugh!<

Don't look for Charlie Sheen's return to the tube anytime soon.

Despite reports yesterday that the warlock had signed a deal for a new sitcom, one network has come forward to deny they are about to put the former Two and a Half Men star back to work, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Making things even worse for the porn-loving actor? He's lost his last remaining goddess, Natalie Kenly, who reportedly moved out.

So let's clear up some rumors...

RadarOnline.com reported yesterday that Sheen had signed a deal with Lionsgate Television for his own sitcom, sparking a bidding war for the show among a number of networks; TBS was named as the winner frontrunner.

TBS denied furiously bidding for the show, and issued a statement saying that they were not bringing the embattled back to TV.

"TBS is not in discussions for a possible project with Charlie Sheen," a rep for the network said.

As for his old job on Two and a Half Men, it seems Sheen's nemesis Chuck Lorre has found a way to get revenge on his out-of-control star. Before Ashton Kutcher steps in to take over on the show, Sheen's character Charlie Harper will reportedly be killed off by driving his car off a cliff. (Lorre, winning?)

Sheen's personal life seems to be falling apart too—according to multiple reports, his last goddess Kenly apparently had some kind of falling out with the actor, and drove off from Sober Valley Lodge in the Mercedes he bought for her.

Although Sheen reportedly demanded that the sweet car be returned to him ASAP, it is not known whether Kenly complied.

Sheen allegedly brushed off the breakup, claiming that gals dumping him rather than the other way around is not a common occurrence in his life.

Nor does the star seem particularly fazed: He quickly rounded up three new girlfriends (who have not yet reached goddess status) the very night Kenly bailed.

Sheen's other blond babe, Bree Olson, 24, ditched the unemployed actor in April during his Torpedo of Truth tour and was then sentenced to one year of probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge stemming from her arrest earlier this year.

Sheen had claimed Olson was still in touch after losing her goddess status.

With the world reeling in alarm from the recent E. coli outbreak in northern Germany and Europe, one should ask what does this mean for me and my family. With 2,900 cases reported across Europe and a nearly two dozen deaths, one thing is certain: A similar outbreak could happen in the U.S. In fact, it has happened before. In 1993, Americans were shocked to learn of its spread through ground beef, the main ingredient of one of our precious delicacies — the hamburger.

Although E. coli illnesses have declined significantly since 1993, the disease started to increase in 2004 and 2006. The number of suspected U.S. cases involving  the deadly E. coli bacteria that sickened thousands in Europe is currently at six. The CDC said three suspected cases of a type of kidney failure associated with E. coli infections — hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) — had been identified in Massachusetts, Michigan and Wisconsin. So far since the start of June, there have been several cases reported in the United States  that are not not related to the outbreak in Europe. In Amarillo, Texas; and Tulsa, Okla., health officials are investigating small clusters of E. coli O157:H7 infection involving children. In Virginia, a child died this week of an E. coli infection, and another person “in close contact” with the child has been infected as well. In Tennessee, one child has died, two more are in the hospital, and seven others have suffered E. coli infections this month.

Symptoms of E. coli infections include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. E. coli is commonly found in the digestive tracts of humans and animals, where they make up part of the normal bacteria of the intestine. The most commonly identified STEC in the United States is E. coli 0157:H7. E. coli can be spread through consumption of undercooked meat, particularly beef, drinking contaminated raw milk, swimming in, or drinking contaminated water, or by consuming foods or mouthing objects that have been contaminated with feces of an infected person or animal. Person-to-person transmission can occur if infected people do not wash their hands after using the toilet or after changing diapers. The following precautions can be taken to prevent E. coli: 1] Always refrigerate meat products. Do not leave them at room temperature. 2] Cook ground meat completely to an internal temperature of 160˚ F. 3] Clean thoroughly with bleach any surface meat has touched and 4] Avoid drinking unpasteurized products, such as milk and juices.

This outbreak comes at a strange time politically, since programs for food safety are being targeted for cuts by House Republicans, who have introduced a 2012 appropriations bill this week that would cut funding to the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) food-assistance program by $832 million, or 12 percent, and funding for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration by $285 million, or 11.5 percent.

There is a saying which many of us who have lived or continue to live below the poverty line, have long known: You have to be rich to be poor.  What that translates to is, the poorer you are, the more things cost.

It’s a reality that I’ve become familiar with over the years.  First as a child experiencing welfare and WIC, free lunch and other government services, who occasionally had to boil hot water  for my bath after my mother couldn’t afford to pay the gas bill.  Then again as a broke college student, when stealing milk from the school’s cafeteria and toilet tissue from restaurant stalls was as much about survival as it was a college prank.  And again as a young adult, who suffered in pain for more than six months with an infected tooth when my low wage job and lack of healthcare meant that I had to wait and save up enough cash to in order to afford a dentist appointment.

There is a high cost involved with being poor and now new research seems to confirm what many of us who grew up without means seemed to already know: Being poor can literally make you sick and if not careful, it might kill you.

Researchers at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health has begun to look at the contribution of social factors to mortality in the country and have determined that poverty, low levels of education, poor social support and other social factors contribute about as many deaths in the U.S. as heart attacks, strokes and lung cancer.  The investigators found that approximately 245,000 deaths in the United States in the year 2000 were attributable to low levels of education, 176,000 to racial segregation, 162,000 to low social support, 133,000 to individual-level poverty, 119,000 to income inequality, and 39,000 to area-level poverty. Overall, 4.5% of U.S. deaths were found to be attributable to poverty.

It might be hard for some folks to understand how individual social factors can contribute to poor health but consider for a minute the theory known as the poverty tax, also known as economic redlining, when businesses charge a premium over the standard price for an item to a captive market, namely the poor who lack the means to go elsewhere. Most people can relate to having to pay extra for a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread at a corner store when supermarkets are closed.  But few folks understand what it is like to have to rely on the corner store for a primary grocer, especially when you don’t have reliable transportation to get to a supermarket or super saving box stores (usually located in the suburbs) to save money.

In low-income neighborhoods, you are likely to find more fast food restaurants per capita than places to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables. And while many have the luxury of paying for high priced gym memberships or engaging freely in sports activities at local parks and trails, not everyone, particularly the poor, live in regions with available and safe access to parks and playing fields.  But it goes beyond basic nutrition and exercise. In poor neighborhoods, gasoline prices are as much as a nickel more than in middle class neighborhoods and real estate is appraised much higher as well.  A recent survey of more than 11,000 Pittsburgh home sales between 2006 and 2010 indicates that properties in many of the city’s poorer neighborhoods are assessed for more than their fair market value.

Likewise, financial institutions tend not to set up shop in poor neighborhoods including banks, which last year, saw a reduction in branches in poorer neighborhoods while branches continued to expand in wealthier areas.  The lack of financial institutions often give way to payday lenders, check cashing places and pawn shops, which charge exorbiant rates for their credit services.  And despite the widespread belief that the wealthiest Americans carry the burden in taxes, the reality is that, when you include in federal payroll, gas, sales and utility taxes, the wealthy are actually paying less taxes.

Poverty is America’s quietest epidemic. Most who have been, or continue to be, low-income understand fully that there is no greater stress-factor than worrying about how you’re going to pay rent or where your next meal will come from. Not to dismiss the role individual self-determination can play in safeguarding a person’s own well being, but if a community isn’t prosperous enough, it can’t generate the economic thrust necessary for people to not only create wealth and escape poverty but ultimately live healthier lives.

Not so long ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers were one of the sports cosmos' most exalted franchises. Now, they're like some kind of reality show gone bad.

The thought of this team -- THE DODGERS -- in bankruptcy court was once an unthinkable embarrassment. But we're long past that stage. Now this twist in the plot line fits right into the pitiful descent of the franchise in the Frank McCourt era.

People kept asking the same question Monday, as news of the Dodgers' journey into Chapter 11 Land began to spread: What does THIS mean?

And the answer, on one level, is simple, says one sports attorney: "Frank is just doing this to buy time."

But here's one of his big problems: He doesn't have much time.

All he has is about 72 hours to make payroll before the end of this month. Somehow, some way, by the end of the day Thursday, somebody has to cut checks to everybody on the IOU sheet, from Rubby De La Rosa to Manny Ramirez. Plus, according to the documents filed Monday, McCourt has another $18.7 million bill due Friday to fund future deferred payments, reports the Los Angeles Times.

So while it could take months, even years, for the courts to sort out all the ramifications of this maneuver, the first big ring in this circus that you should focus on is the legal free-for-all to determine who is going to sign all those checks.

McCourt issued a statement Monday saying he'd already obtained $150 million in interim financing (from a hedge fund, Highbridge Capital) to make all those payments and to keep the Dodgers chugging ever onward. But any minute now, commissioner Bud Selig's lawyers will be charging into that very same bankruptcy court to say, "Uhhh, not so fast, Frank."

What MLB will argue, other attorneys say, is that the rules of baseball don't allow McCourt to pull this maneuver without the approval of his favorite commissioner. And needless to say, Selig didn't sign off on any of this.

So Selig's legal team will argue that it's not in the best interests of baseball for some hedge fund to lend the Dodgers the big bucks they need to keep operating. Instead, being the magnanimous commissioner he is, Bud Selig will say:

"We'll supply the financing here. No need to rely on a bunch of anonymous financiers. This is how we did it in Texas last year, and look how well that worked out."

Then it's up to the bankruptcy judge who now, for all intents and purposes, controls the fate of this franchise. If the judge sides with Selig, McCourt's big legal gambit could become an official disaster, faster than you could say, "Wait a second. The Dodgers still owe money to Marquis Grissom?"

At that point, other attorneys suggest, baseball will infuse the money it takes to make the Dodgers' payroll -- and then turn its guns on McCourt. It will ask the judge to give McCourt the boot, install Selig's man, Tom Schieffer, as the guy in charge and tell McCourt to get in line with the other creditors.

But wait. There's more legal amusement to come besides the rollicking Bud-versus-Frank histrionics.

There's also -- what else? -- more Divorce Court fun.

Monday's Chapter 11 filing describes Frank McCourt as the "sole" shareholder in Los Angeles Dodgers Holding Company LLC. But his estranged wife, Jamie, wouldn't appear to agree with that description.

Matter of fact, those two are still in a court proceeding of their own in an attempt to determine the answer to that very question.

So she could be headed for court herself, to contest this whole maneuver. Which could throw this team into an even greater state of chaos. Hmmm, does that even seem possible?

But if you're a fan of reality-show melodrama, as opposed to a fan who actually cares if the Dodgers can resume playing baseball without a laugh track, you'll be enthused to learn the lawyers won't be finished work after those two issues are decided. Not by a long shot.

The bankruptcy court now, essentially, runs this franchise. So even if baseball outmaneuvers McCourt this week, McCourt won't be done scorching Bud Selig's portion of the earth.

His next step, other attorneys predict, would be to challenge the commissioner's best-interests-of-baseball powers in that same bankruptcy court. And won't that be a hoot. It's hard to envision McCourt winning that case. But the guns would keep firing deep into the night either way.

And ultimately, it's possible that when the Dodgers eventually get sold, if these pesky bankruptcy issues haven't been resolved, it will be the court running the sale, not Bud Selig.

It was only a year ago, remember, that the Rangers were sold in an auction run by a bankruptcy court. And that was a situation very different than this one -- because their owner at the time, Tom Hicks, "saw the writing on the wall," says one baseball official, and allowed MLB to step in and finance the Rangers' operations without a fight.

While the nation continues suffering through a financial crisis, federal lawmakers from both political parties remain incredibly generous with tax dollars, doling out millions in bonuses to members of their staff including those with six-figure salaries.

Considering that unemployment is at an all-time high and the federal budget is in desperate need of slashing, this is the last thing Americans need to hear. The bonuses, distributed my members of Congress, ranged from $2,000 to about $5,000 and totaled more than $21 million. The money was distributed shortly after the federal government finished the year with a $1.3-trillion budget deficit. The data, which can be viewed here, was compiled by a Washington D.C. nonprofit dedicated to tracking congressional salaries.

The bonuses came out of the public funds that each member of the U.S. House gets for office expenses and salaries. Any unspent money goes back to the government, or in most cases, to pad staffers’ salaries. The worst offender in 2010 was Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite, a Republican who represented east-central Florida before retiring last year. She paid out more than $200,000 in bonuses, according to the database.

Nearly one in 10 House members paid at least $100,000 in staff bonuses in the fourth quarter of 2010, according to the compiled stats. Almost half of the lawmakers from California, the state with the largest House delegation, gave their staff bonuses including five who generously distributed at least six figures.

In a local newspaper report several members of California’s delegation explained that bonuses are essential to compete with the private sector. One Democrat from San Jose pointed out that “recruiting quality staff for quality constituent services is difficult enough given limited resources.” Another, who paid an average $5,000 bonus, says it’s a “modest financial recognition.”

Perhaps it wouldn’t seem so modest if the money came out of the legislators’ pockets. Not surprisingly, no one cared to comment on the bonuses that went to congressional staffers who make six-figure salaries.

Early this week, it was announced that Missy Elliott had been battling Grave's Disease, an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid gland. I saw an article last night, the OC Weekly, about such an outrageous story that it was kind of difficult for me to believe. I hit up Google and did a quick search, low and behold, the story was in the L.A. Times, as well. You're probably asking, "What's the story"? Well, apparently, back in 2004, a stripper was living her place of employment and was stopped by a police officer, David Alex Park. What was should have been an average traffic stop turned into something criminal.

No one disputes that an on-duty Irvine police officer got an erection and ejaculated on a motorist during an early-morning traffic stop in Laguna Beach. The female driver reported it, DNA testing confirmed it and officer David Alex Park finally admitted it.

When the case went to trial, however, defense attorney Al Stokke argued that Park wasn't responsible for making sticky all over the woman's sweater. He insisted that she made the married patrolman make the mess—after all, she was on her way home from work as a dancer at Captain Cream Cabaret.

"She got what she wanted," said Stokke. "She's an overtly sexual person."

A jury of one woman and 11 men—many white and in their 50s or 60s—agreed with Stokke. On Feb. 2, after a half-day of deliberations, they found Park not guilty of three felony charges that he'd used his badge to win sexual favors during the December 2004 traffic stop.

Seriously, people? So because the woman was a stripper, she got was she deserved? Get real folks and wake up! Even if I were to play the Devil's advocate and agree that she came on to him, he STILL should have handled the situation properly and professionally. However, after reading some of the articles on this case, I find it more believable that he used what power he had to get what he wanted.<

However, not everyone is happy about why the prices are dropping:

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama took withering fire from the oil industry and Republicans for agreeing to release the nation's emergency oil supplies, a decision that senior officials said was prompted by the need to prop up the ailing economy.

Critics blasted the release of 30 million barrels of oil -- half of a global injection coordinated by the International Energy Agency -- as an ill-timed misuse of reserves at a time when U.S. supplies are relatively high, despite the loss of Libya's exports for the past three months.

Some OPEC officials went further, calling it a political ploy that ignored Saudi Arabia's promise to step up production and the fact that oil prices had already fallen sharply.

But the move fueled questions about the timing and catalyst for releasing the stocks, which in the past have been reserved to address abrupt disruptions like natural disasters.

I understand that one has to be extremely thoughtful about how our resources are used, and yes, I'm not blind and absolutely believe that the POTUS is playing it smart in this political field. However, it's summertime, and as someone who likes to travel at this time of the year, lower fuel prices makes my purse and bank account much nicer to look at.

"This action threatens our ability to respond to a genuine national security crisis and means we must ultimately find the resources to replenish the reserve -- at significant cost to taxpayers," said John Boehner, Republican leader in the House of Representatives.

To Boehner, I say we taxpayers already take on all the"significant costs"; if this move, at a time when those of us who work hard decide to take summer vacations with family, makes it easier for us to cut down on travel costs, I say "YAY". I don't think the POTUS would make this move if there truly wasn't enough oil in reserve. I'm actually thinking about taking a couple of extra trips this summer and if the gas price drops below $3 in my area, I will definitely hit the highway for a road trip or two. What about you?<

There are many routes to greatness one can take, and education is still one of the main roads. Autum Ashante comes from a household that believes in the value of education and learning and because of this, she will be a Husky at the University of Connecticut. Did I forget to mention that Autum is a 13 year old prodigy?

According to Black Voices, Autum was homeschooled by her father, Ben:

Having retired early, Ben was able to dedicate himself to his daughter's education full time. He also enlisted the help of the community, including local retired teachers.

"What she's doing is groundbreaking but this is not about vanity," he said. "It's about setting the tone for other black and Latino children who will come behind her. They're always being told they are underachievers. We want to show this can be done."

Autum is multilingual; she speaks Spanish, Arabic, and Swahili. She is a spoken word artist. And to top is all off, she has an IQ of 149, which, as Black Voices points out, is higher than that of most college students. Again, she's 13 years old.

I read a news article about a little girl, I believe she was five years old, and she seemed to be heading in the same direction as Autum Ashante. The common denominator between the two of them, besides race and sex? Homeschooling. Just a little food for thought for many parents out there. I'm sure that the time and money parents must put into homeschooling even one child must be vast, but if the investment (and it is most definitely an investment) produces this sort of outcome, it seems to be worthwhile.

CHICAGO (Reuters) – Wal-Mart Stores Inc and its foundation said on Thursday that it had committed $25 million to help provide food, education and jobs for children during school summer break, but opponents of the retailer's urban expansion plans questioned its motives.

The new campaign from the world's largest retailer, and the Walmart Foundation, comes after April's announcement that Wal-Mart and its foundation gave away $316 million in cash and $480 million in in-kind contributions in the fiscal year that ended on January 31. A significant part of that giving directed to local food banks.

Wal-Mart has been steadily increasing the volume of its contributions in New York City and Washington D.C., cities where no Walmart stores actually exist. Its motives for escalating donations to these cities have been questioned by neighborhood activists and labor groups.

Critics argue that the company relies on nonunion workers and has a reputation for treating them poorly, while also hurting smaller retailers.

"The mega-retailer can't boost its flagging U.S. sales unless it expands into the nation's largest cities, so it's trying to break its way into New York with new store formats and new products, and most importantly -- a new image," said Stephanie Yazgi, spokeswoman for opposition group Wal-Mart Free NYC.

Wal-Mart has countered that its stores create jobs and also bring low-priced items like groceries to so-called food deserts or neighborhoods that lack grocery stores.

"We've done polling in both cities, and residents overwhelmingly want Walmarts in the city," said Steven Restivo, Walmart's director of community affairs.

Overall, Wal-Mart and the Walmart Foundation's contributions in fiscal-year 2011 included $732 million in cash and in-kind gifts in the United States, and $66.8 million in other countries.

In May 2010, Wal-Mart also announced a $2 billion commitment of cash and in-kind contributions to U.S. food relief organizations though 2015.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- US Airways is defending its decision to allow a man wearing skimpy women's panties and high heels to fly days before a football player was arrested on a plane in California over a dispute over his saggy pants.

The man flew six days before University of New Mexico football player Deshon Marman was arrested on a US Airways flight in San Francisco over allegations he refused to pull up his pants.

A US Airways spokeswoman told the Chronicle employees were right not to ask the man on the Phoenix flight to cover himself but declined to comment on Marman's arrest.

The most wanted man by the FBI next to Bin Laden has finally been caught after 16 years of hiding.

BOSTON – After 16 long years as a fugitive, notorious gangster James "Whitey" Bulger was expected to be returned home to Boston on Friday, a law enforcement official said.

Bulger, the former leader of the violent Winter Hill Gang, was captured in Santa Monica, Calif., Wednesday, along with his longtime girlfriend, Catherine Greig.

Christina DiIorio-Sterling, a spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz, said Bulger and Greig could have an initial appearance in federal court as early as Friday afternoon. He faces charges of murder, conspiracy, narcotics distribution, extortion and money laundering.

"We expect Mr. Bulger and Ms. Greig here today but logistical arrangements are still being worked out," she said.

The arrest of Bulger appeared to end a long, frustrating manhunt that had embarrassed the FBI and raised questions about its efforts to find one of its most wanted fugitives.

But Bulger's capture could become a new chapter in an old scandal for the Boston FBI and others.

If Bulger decides to cut a deal with prosecutors, he could implicate an untold number of local, state and federal law enforcement officials, according to investigators who built a racketeering indictment against Bulger before he fled in 1995.

"If he starts to talk, there will be some unwelcome accountability on the part of a lot of people inside law enforcement," said retired Massachusetts state police Maj. Tom Duffy. "Let me put it this way: I wouldn't want my pension contingent on what he will say at this point."

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) – Ryan Dunn, a co-star of the hit "Jackass" movies, had a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit when his speeding Porsche careened off a highway, killing him and a passenger, police said Wednesday.

The sports car was traveling at speeds of up to 140 miles per hour when the crash occurred early Monday in West Goshen, a suburb of Philadelphia, police said.

Dunn's blood-alcohol reading was 0.196, according to a toxicology report released by authorities. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08.

It wasn't the first time the daredevil personality, 34, got behind the wheel after drinking, authorities said, noting he was cited for driving under the influence in 2005.

Dr. Kendel Kidwell, a physician who is head of the emergency medicine department at suburban Abington Hospital said people who are not heavy drinkers would be impaired with a 0.196 blood alcohol level. They would suffer from an altered perception of their surroundings, slowed reflexes, slurred speech and an inability to concentrate, he said.

Heavy drinkers, however, would be able to "walk around normally," and in fact could suffer withdrawal symptoms if the level fell, he said.

The police report also said no "drugs of abuse" were found in Dunn's system.

The Chester County Coroner's office earlier ruled that Dunn and his passenger, Zachary Hartwell, 30, both of West Chester, died of trauma.

Police said the car drove off the highway, and they found it in a nearby wooded area fully engulfed in flames.

Several private funeral services were scheduled for Dunn, including one that was held on Wednesday, and they will be followed by a public memorial service at a date yet to be determined, said a spokesman for the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith and Boyd funeral home in West Chester.

A funeral for Hartwell, a Navy veteran who served as a gunner's mate in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, was scheduled for Saturday in West Chester, according to a notice published in a local newspaper.

GEORGETOWN, Delaware (AFP) – A Delaware pediatrician went on trial for allegedly raping or sexually exploiting 86 young patients, all girls except one and almost all younger than three.

Earl Bradley has pleaded not guilty to 24 counts against him, and sat quietly in gray prison scrubs as a veteran state trooper spent hours Tuesday describing the doctor's cache of home videos of the assaults.

They were so "horrible," testified state police detective Scott Garland, a specialist in forensic computer evidence. "They were beyond anything I had ever witnessed. Nothing prepared me for it."

Families of some victims were in the courtroom, and Garland's graphic descriptions elicited muffled sobs, while a few hurried out in anguish.

Superior Court Judge William Carpenter presided over the one-day bench trial in southern Delaware where Bradley, who was married with four children, had a practice from 1994 until he was arrested and jailed in December 2009.

His once popular Disney-themed office compound in Lewes, where he taped his alleged assaults for 10 years, went to auction but with no takers. The toys he once used to quiet crying children were burned by the state rather than sold.

Bradley's attorneys argue the video evidence taken from his offices was seized without a proper warrant and violated Bradley's constitutional rights against unreasonable searches and seizures.

Judge Carpenter denied the defense attorney's motion to suppress, or throw out the evidence, and the trial became just a step on the way to an appeal.

There was no cross examination of the state's two police witnesses, no evidence from the defense, and no closing arguments.

When the judge offered Bradley an opportunity to speak, the doctor made his longest statement of the day, saying: "I decided not to testify."

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of US Vice President Joe Biden, watched the trial and conferred with prosecutors.

Because of a court gag order in place, Biden told AFP he could not talk about the trial until after there is a verdict.

The judge said he will rule after reviewing 13 hours of video evidence. If Bradley is found guilty, his attorneys will implement their defense in an appeal to the Delaware Supreme Court raising the claim of a warrant less search.

Bradley faces a life sentence, but observer and criminal defense lawyer John Malik said his best chance would be if the Supreme Court declares the evidence, however painstakingly cataloged, inadmissible because it was illegally seized.

"The Delaware Constitution affords Delaware defendants greater privacy rights than even the US Constitution," Malik said.

Sharp-Eyed Viewers Catch Fox's 'MasterChef' Faking a Huge Crowd

On Monday's episode of Fox's Gordon Ramsay-hosted cooking competition "MasterChef," the opening scene featured a shot of a huge crowd supposedly gathering to audition for the show, with a voice-over describing the "thousands" who lined up to try out. Yesterday, an eagle-eyed Reddit user noticed something weird about the crowd. Namely, the same people showed up multiple times in the same shot:

On the one hand: ooooh, you mean TV shows are messed with by photo editors? I thought everything was real!

On the other: it's fun when the internet catches a behemoth like Fox doctoring a crowd of hopefuls for one of their reality shows. To be fair, this probably happens all the time without anyone catching on, but when you watch the video, it actually is pretty shockingly noticeable. "Why are those two ladies in orange waving in exact unison? Oh, because they're the same person!"  In a comment to Entertainment Weekly, Fox admitted the photo was changed and says they won't use that shot anymore.

What would run through your mind if you saw this, as you boarded your plane to NYC, LA, Overseas, etc.? According to Clutch Mag. six days prior:

"20-year-old college football player Deshon Marman was kicked off of a US Airways flight this week for wearing his pants below his waist and exposing his boxer shorts. The University of New Mexico student was flying back to Alberquerque after attending a friend’s funeral in San Franciso when he was approached by an airline employee at the boarding gate and asked to pull up his pants. He refused and was asked again aboard the plane, according to the San Franciso Chronicle. When he again failed to comply, Marman was ordered to exit the aircraft. ”At that point he was asked to leave the plane,” stated San Francisco Police Department spokesman Sargent Michael Rodrigquez. “It took 15 to 20 minutes of talking to get him to leave the plane, and he was arrested for trespassing.”

Now here we go with the H.A.M moment of the day. Apparently US Airways has no problem at all for an older white male to board a plane in nothing but heels, and women's lingerie...I'm being nice here with that phrase, yet if it was a woman, she would be escorted away due to indecency.

NPR reports that a reader of the San Francisco Chronicle sent them a picture of the older man, who was allowed to travel from Florida to Arizona wearing a cami bra and panty set, thigh highs and a little blouse, leaving nothing to the imagination. Police in the Marman arrest stated that he was dressed in pants that revealed his boxer shorts. The woman who sent the picture claims that passengers did complain about the man’s attire.

I'm sorry, fierce or not, I would feel uncomfortable seeing anyone, let alone a male dressed as such on a plane. Sorry. So here's my thing, like The Clutch said in so many words, what makes one act of dressing okay and other not in regards to US Airways?

Whoopi Goldberg Spars With Elisabeth Hasselbeck About David Tyree's Gay Marriage Views

The co-hosts of "The View" argued about footballer David Tyree's controversial comments about gay rights on Tuesday.

Tyree drew attention for saying he'd give up his Super Bowl championship to stop gay marriage, and that gay people should not be allowed to raise children.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who supports gay marriage, said she had spoken to Tyree on Tuesday morning, and defended his comments.

She called him "a man who stands by his convictions" and said, "he has no hate. He loves everyone ... he truly is just a man who is not a part-time guy following God."

Whoopi Goldberg dismissed this line of reasoning.

"Let us be real now," she said. "To say that people should not be able to raise children because they feel or act differently to you seems slightly not God-like to me."

She summed up her philosophy thusly: "If you do not believe in gay marriage, do not marry a gay person."

Ka Yang, Sacramento Mother Accused of Killing Baby in Microwave

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KXTV) -- A 29-year-old Sacramento woman has been arrested on suspicion of burning her baby in a microwave oven, causing the infant's death, police say.

Ka Yang was taken into custody Tuesday following a three-month investigation into March 17th death of 6-week-old Mirabelle Thao-Lo.

Officer Laura Peck with the Sacramento Police Department said homicide detectives, medical experts and forensic scientists determined the baby girl suffered extensive thermal injuries resulting in her death.

Peck said investigators found only three other reported injuries similar to the victim's in Texas, Ohio and Virginia.

Yang was apprehended at her residence on the 800 block of Rood Avenue, Peck said.

"We thought it was an accident," neighbor Derrick Waddell said. "We thought they dropped their baby, and we just heard she put her baby in the microwave. It's something you'd see in a horror story."

"They're very nice people," neighbor Nou Vang said. "I know the father who goes to church. I wouldn't expect any foul play or anything."

"It's sad. It's terribly sad. so many safe places baby could have been taken to. I wish I knew," neighbor Pam Waddell said.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department jail website, Yang was booked on one count of murder and one count of assault leading to the death of a child under age 8. She is ineligible for bail.<

'LOST' Actor Doug Hutchinson Marries 16 Year Old in Las Vegas

It was a twist that even "Lost" fans probably didn't see coming.

Actor Doug Hutchison, 51, announced that he has married his 16-year-old girlfriend, Courtney Alexis Stodden.

According to a notice on his website, Hutchison has been enjoying wedded bliss with the aspiring country singer for a few weeks.

"Doug Anthony Hutchison and Courtney Alexis Stodden became husband and wife on Friday May 20th, 2011, at 12 p.m. in The Little Chapel of Flowers in Las Vegas, Nevada," the statement on his site says. "Mr. and Mrs. Hutchison live together happily ensconced in their Hollywood Hills home with their lil' pups, Everette and Tuna!"

Hutchison has appeared on various shows and films including "Lost," "The X Files" and "Green Mile." On "Lost" he played Horace Goodspeed, the leader of the Dharma Initiative group on the island.

The newlyweds released a statement to E! in light of what is sure to be a few raised eyebrows over their 35-year age difference.

"We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial," the statement said. "But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."<

A homeless man in Utah received some life changing news this week after being tracked down by a private investigator. 60 something year old Max Melitzer was pushing a shopping cart full of his belongings in a Salt Lake City park when he was told that he had been left a "significant" amount of money by his brother who died of cancer.

That's what it seems like. Seems like the good pastor who doesn't seem to mind that Bishop Eddie Wrong Stroke was molesting little boys is looking to get New Yorkers to make it rain on him! The New York Post states:

"Dollar "wants to turn it into a multi-use facility," one source said. "He's got a huge following and needs an arena." But the source cautioned, "You'd be handing over a public property to a religious institution. That would require a lot of discussion." Another source said that Dollar — who travels the nation in a Gulfstream jet and packs Madison Square Garden for weekend-long revivals — has virtually no chance of taking over the city-owned facility, even though his ministries are taking in $65 million a year. He already has an 8,500-seat auditorium in Atlanta, but a venture in The Bronx would create a base for a larger market in a building that could be used as a convention center. Officials have been trying since the 1990s to figure out what to do with Kingsbridge, a 5-acre site that is one of the largest armories in the nation."

My thing is where the hell are these pastors getting all this money? Are the members of these churches making it rain like that? I mean Bishop Eddie Wrong Stroke has allegedly settled out of court for 25 mil and this new church the good pastor is about to embark on is ringing to the tune of 65 mil! Am I in the wrong profession? Look at the good pastor's house! I mean...are all of his members sitting pretty like this?

Chris Brown and Rihanna exchanging pics? That's the word spreading around the Internet, after Brown accidentally sent an "@" message for Rihanna on his public timeline many believed was meant for a private DM (Direct Message).

Over the weekend, Breezy send this message to RiRi: "You got that pic I sent you?"

Once he realized it was sent publicly, the singer quickly deleted the post, but fans grabbed a screenshot of it ... fast, and it was re-posted to notorious gossip website, MediaTakeOut.com.

What kind of picture Brown sent off to Rihanna was unknown. However, both have been known to send sexy pictures over their phones in the past.

Since the alleged message, both Brown and Rihanna denied it ever happened.

"poeple, dont listen to the blogs. i never @'d @rihanna. stop tryna make a story out of nothing," Brown tweeted (@ChrisBrown).

Rihanna sent this message (@Rihanna) to a fan after they expressed their disappointment over her communication with her abusive ex: "some women never learn that blogs are not encyclopedias."

Last month, RiRi fans went bonkers when she began following Chris Brown on Twitter. She, however, felt it was no big deal.

Lil’ Kim once rocketed to fame as the first lady of Notorious B.I.G.’s Junior M.A.F.I.A. crew. And now, years after cutting ties with Junior M.A.F.I.A. and moving out of B.I.G.’s shadow, Kim may, once again, be aligning herself with a male hip-hop star, an old friend and former nemesis, 50 Cent.

According to HipHopDX, on June 18, at Atlanta’s own Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash 16, G-Unit’s latest signee, Shawty Lo, brought out special guest, Lil’ Kim, to the stage, where Kim announced her allegiance to G-Unit.

“If y’all don’t know, this my boy right here. G-Unit South, that’s where it’s at,” said Kim. “And I’m family too, down with the G-Unit camp. We got surprises for y’all.”

Kim’s comment has left many assuming that she’ll soon officially join G-Unit Records, if she hasn’t already done so.

A possible union between Lil’ Kim and 50 Cent has been circulating in the rumor mill for some time now. The two rappers have a long history together that includes their 2003 No. 1 hit, “Magic Stick.” And despite having beefed with each other in the past (a battle which resulted in Kim’s former boyfriend shooting at 50 Cent and his G-Unit crew) , the two have become friendly again in recent years.

50 Cent has also been adding to the rumor mill with his recent comments about Kim.
