Dining with RRR - Phở Pasteur - Toronto, Ontario

One of my favorite foods to eat is phở. Phở is a Vietnamese dish consisting of broth, noodles made from rice, a few herbs, and meat.  Phở is a dish similar to Japanese Ramen and Thai Noodle Soup.

Pho PasteurOf my many bowls of phở eaten over the years the best place to eat it has been the Phở Pasteur in Toronto, ON (Canada).

I recently went to Phở Pasteur this past weekend and since I haven't been to Phở Pasteur in a while it was like experiencing my first time eating there all over again.

Located in the outskirts of Chinatown on Dundas Street W near the corner of Spadina Avenue.  The restaurant may not look like much on the outside, but it is very clean on the inside and the staff there is extremely friendly.

No language barrier to worry about as the staff speaks passable English.

Reality TV with RRR - My African Love

I don't watch many reality TV shows, but one that is up and coming caught my attention. It is called “My African Love”. When I first saw the title I was like huh, what is this about? It didn't take me long to find out and the more I found out the more I decided I didn't like it.

An American Bachelor, of African descent, travels to Africa to the roots of his ancestry and begins his quest to find True Love and a Bride.

The premise of the show is to have a bachelor of African decent as in African-American and have him travel to Africa to choose one of 24 waiting African bachelorettes to fall in love with and to marry.  Yes the show has been done before, but not with the back to Africa twist. The producers think that makes the show “exotic”.

Doesn't that sound romantic?  Doesn't it make you feel good inside to see Black love?  Doesn't feel even better to see African love?  It does to me which is why I love to see Africans and African-Americans together.  I watch the occasional Nollywood film, because I love to see my African brothers and sisters doing their thing, but not this time.  Nope.  I do not like that Sam-I-Am.  This time it just makes me sick. Check out the following quotes:

The contestants (bachelorettes) will be paired as roommates by opposite personalities (“oil and water”).
The Show will include a documentary element as it is filmed against the dramatic and exotic background of West Africa’s diverse landscape, and the bachelor will explore his aboriginal ancestry by exploring its diverse traditions and cultures.

Blaxploitation pure and simple I tell you.  Technically Blaxploitation refers to film, but I really think it should be expanded to television and print media as well.

Quick tech tip with RRR - Belkin Universal Wireless HDTV Adapter

I have a 90% wireless network (only wired connection) and a new non-wireless device that is not in the same room with my wired connection.

How do I get my device connected to my home network so that I can utilize it fully?

  1. Run a new Ethernet connection
  2. Move my device to where my wired connection is located
  3. Use my device crippled (without the internet functionality)

For many people option 1 and 2 are not feasible options, leaving option 3 as their only choice.  In my case option 2 was the not feasible option leaving me with only options 1 and 3.  I was dreading option 1 and was tired of option 3.  So I decided to take some advice from Titanic, "I make my own luck", and chose option 4.

  1. Use a Wireless Ethernet Bridge

Baking with RRR - Pillsbury® Supreme Collection™: Red Velvet Cake

Normally I would write a review, but this time we are going to do things a bit differently. We are going to do a walk through instead. Exciting? Let's hope so.

Pillsbury® has a Supreme Collection™ that they've introduced fairly recently. They have three mixes (Apple Spice, Fudge Truffle, and Red Velvet) currently, they may decide to add more at a later time. Today we are going to make Red Velvet, because that seems to be the happening flavor right now.

This part of the walk through is pretty straight forward with no surprises.
